Keep KC Free: No Ban in KC

The City Council of Kansas City is currently considering a misguided ban on single-serve alcohol products in certain sections of our city.

This ordinance would remove the most affordable legal options for alcohol from the low-income neighborhoods they have chosen to target, while leaving wealthier areas untouched. This policy is unfair. It will hurt the local economy. It will NOT address the real issues of crime and safety. We want solutions, not soundbites.

This policy unfairly targets low-income communities.

A ban unfairly targets low-income Kansas City neighborhoods and infringes on the residents’ freedoms as consumers.

This policy will HURT the city’s economy.

A ban would push single-serving purchases to other neighborhoods, close stores, and eliminate jobs, pulling crucial economic activity from our communities.

This policy does not match the city’s recent stance on expanding hours of alcohol sales for the World Cup.

The city is actually expanding alcohol service hours for the World Cup—making alcohol easier than ever to purchase at all times of day.

The BEST way to address public safety?

Smart, thoughtful investment in business, supportive programming, and the city’s infrastructure is the only real way to improve safety for all Kansas Citians.
